Scary Go Round

There's a new kiddie play area at Paseo de Sta. Rosa and they have this mini carousel for kids. So we asked the kids if they wanted to ride. Of course, they said yes. Well, I had this dream for them long ago that I wanted them to be equestriennes one day. I just find these horse riders so graceful...  almost like dancers on saddles. So up went the kiddies on the fake horses and off I went to dreamland wishing that someday they would get the chance to do the real thing. After two rounds, my little girl started crying and wanted to get off - they had to stop the thing for a few minutes so we could get her. Poor thing got scared. Oh well, maybe she would prefer those real dwarf horses where she can almost touch the ground.

Bathroom fun

My son is growing up so fast. Lately, we've allowed him to take a bath by himself. The funny thing is that it takes him almost an hour just to finish. Whenever I notice that he's been in there for quite a while my maternal instincts kick in. I don't even have to see what he's doing. I just know that he's been playing inside the bathroom. Many times our sinks would be clogged because of some toy he dropped in or the bathroom wash would be half gone by the time he comes out. Even the toothpaste isn't spared! Once, when I was about to brush my teeth, I squeezed out some toothpaste into my toothbrush and what came out was melted watery toothpaste. The little rascal poured water into the tube. Aaaargh! Of course, I exercise my vocal chords for around 3 to 5 minutes but at the end of the day... I still love the little "squeaky clean" boy ... anyway.

IT'S SUNNER!

Yup, that's right! It's official! The heat is on, school's out, pack up the old books and bring out the toys because it's finally SUNNER! ... according to my 8-yr. old, anyway.

So here's my son, having a blast with his new kite, which, btw, he bought on his own with his Kid's Church (KC) bucks. Oh, the joys of childhood! Makes me want to go back and relive mine. LOL

Say what?

I think we have a quirky household. Words take on new meaning whenever my kids, their dad and myself are in that playful mood. Here are some of the words that have become a part of our house but have yet to pass Noah Webster's Dictionary or Roget's thesaurus:

bapu - (bah-poo) adj. smelly or any foul smelling odor emanating from anything
chikam (chee-kam) n. a yummy breakfast consisting of crispy adobo skins and fried rice especially cooked by lolo
lola mop (loh-lee mop) - n. a derivative of lola mommy (mommy's mom) referring to daddy's mom
lolo pop (loh- lo pop) - n. a derivative of lola mop since the two h
ad to rhyme; refers to daddy's dad
mr. incredible -(mis-tuh incre-di-ble) - n. daddy
queenie poo/aka elastigirl - (kweenee pu/ ilasti-gurl) - n. mommy
smoke medicine ( i-smok me-di sin) n. refers to ventolin used with a nebulizer
skirt (skurt) n. refers to pajamas ripped so high it looks like a skirt
spotty sando (spo-tee san-dow) - n. refers to undershirt that has lots of holes

secret weapon (sik-ret wi-pon) - n.term used to refer to foul smelling air that blasts from the rear can cause one to suffocate and experience extreme nausea
v. as in "release the secret weapon" blasted on little kids who dare to fight mr. incredible

We do have a lot more but I have to review my list so that would be it for now. Maybe I can try Merriam-Webster and submit these new words for their approval. What do you think?

Hello, are you there?

Ever since I got hooked on digi scrapping my nocturnal tendencies got worse. I've been staying up later and later into the night hence I wake up so late the next day. Since we are a homeschooling family, we prepare the next day's lesson for our son and leave it on his study table for him to work on when he gets up. He has a set list of things to do all numbered out for him like wake up, fix bed, read bible, eat breakfast, brush teeth, change clothes and finally start school which is another list altogether. (Thank God, he knows how to read on his own.)

One homeschool day, dd and I woke up late and were still playing around in bed upstairs when my cellphone rings. It was our home number! DS was calling me from downstairs ... I knew he had a question about schoolwork and wise little guy didn't want to come up to ask the question himself. DD said, "who's calling Mama?". "It's Kuya.", I said with a smile still not answering the phone. "why don't you call kuya, Aemu?", I meant for her to just call him from the top of the stairs and tell him to come up. What she did next sent me laughing next to tears. She turned to my phone and said, "Kewya? Kewyaaa! Kewyaaaaaaa! He's not answering, Mama." lol
